What options are there for recreational bicycle riding in the Berner Oberland area? Are e-bike rentals available? And can existing hiking paths be used for bike riding. Specifically I am interested in riding downhill from Mürren or Kleine Scheidegg toward Lauterbrunnen.

There are dedicated cycle routes all across Switzerland. They may share paths with hiking trails in some places, but not in others. Make sure you are on a trail where bikes are allowed and you will be fine.

You van go to the overall Swiss transport guide site: Schweizmobil which covers all types of transport from foot to express train

    main site URL: http://www.schweizmobil.ch/en/summer.html

select the type of transport you want to see (for example rail/bus/boat, or cycling or mountain biking)

    For cycling the URL: http://www.schweizmobil.ch/en/cycling-in-switzerland.html

specifically for the Murren mountain bike route: map.schweizmobil.ch/

    Hi SD Traveler,

There are several e-bike trails in the Jungfrau region. From Kleine Scheidegg to Lauterbrunnen via Wengen, the trail offers great views of the Eiger north face. From Lauterbrunnen you can continue to Mürren via Stechelberg. You can find details about these trails in the following links:

    Kleine Scheidegg to Lauterbrunnen: wengen.swiss/en/summer/tracks/lauberhorn-loop-kleine-scheidegg-nr-4/

    Lauterbrunnen to Mürren: muerren.swiss/en/summer/tracks/lauterbrunnen-muerren-loop/

E-bike rentals are available from various sport shops in Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald.

    Regards,

    Anna
