    Hi EMT760,

    You are traveling mid-April, right?

If yes, it won’t be a problem for you, as you are traveling from Chamonix to Zermatt via Vallorcine and Le Trétien and not via St.Gervais.

The route from St. Gervais to Vallorcine (you take this route from Chamonix not from St. Gervais) will be affected only between 7 September and 8th November, so out of your traveling dates for sure.

Same, although you are traveling via Vallorcine and Le Trétien, that route will be closed only between 12 October and 22 November.

The third restriction is not for your route, so no worries.

You can check the timetable at http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable.

    Ildiko,

I appreciate your responses here and the other post!. But yes, around April 20-24 or so. Ok, that makes sense. Would you say the total trip time is around 4 hours or so to Zermatt?

Also is this the best method of travel? I couldn’t find any buses. I’m happy with the rail way, it looks very scenic.

If you check the SBB timetable it is so clever that it will show you all of the transportation modes, actually you can even select what do you want to use (like boats, different types of trains etc).

According to the timetable it takes 3 hours and 35 mins to get from Chamonix to Zermatt. You need to change several times, like in Vallorcine (France), Martigny and Visp.
