Cheapest Zurich covid testing sites

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is preparing for a trip to Switzerland and is curious about affordable rapid antigen test options at Zurich airport. They want to know about cheaper alternatives available later in the week and how to find prices at different testing centers. The forum has been a great resource for their planning.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider using at-home test kits from eMed.com, which cost around 25 CHF per test, allowing you to test before returning home.
  • Check with your health insurance regarding reimbursement for tests, as policies may vary between in-person and at-home tests.
  • Look for free testing options that might be available at airports, like the recent free rapid test option at Geneva airport.

    Hi there,

    I know the rapid antigen test at Zurich airport is around 75 CHF. Are there any cheap options that have testing availability later in the week that people know about? Or best way to search the different places and see what they all charge?

    Thanks in advance. This forum has been invaluable for our trip!

    Hi Newtraveller,

    I’m not sure the prices vary much between different testing centers: http://www.myswitzerland.com/en/planning/about-switzerland/covid-pcr-test/

    Perhaps someone on the forum who had their tests done could share their experience.

    Regards,

    Anna

    Order at home CDC approved test kits from eMed.com before you leave and take with you. You will do the test three days prior to your return in your hotel room.Can buy a package of 6 or I believe of two. Cost is 25 per test. Recently used on my return trip from Ireland.

    @newtraveller

    Double check which test your health insurance company will reimburse you for. We have Kaiser Permanente and they said they’d reimburse us for the in-person test but not the at-home kit even though the in-person test would’ve been double the cost. Turned out last month the rapid test at Geneva airport was free so we just ended up doing that one instead but was nice to know Kaiser would’ve covered one of the tests.

    Okay great. And yeah hopefully our insurance company will cover it. I think some may push back and say if it was done just for “travel”. But hopefully just goes through.
