Child ticket with Regional Pass Bernese Oberland

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Anagan is trying to buy train tickets for two adults and a child with the Swiss Family Card, but is confused about why the website charges 30 CHF for the child. Anagan seeks clarification on whether to enter the child's info for the RBOP ticket to avoid this charge.

Key takeaways:
  • If you have a Swiss Family Card, you don't need to buy a ticket for your child and should not input their details on the website.
  • During ticket inspections, just show your Swiss Family Card along with adult tickets to travel with your child for free.
  • When booking tickets, it’s often cheaper to purchase them in CHF rather than USD, as exchange rates may vary.
  • For reliable trip planning, try to follow the advice in dedicated threads to minimize confusion and streamline your questions.

I went on bls website to make buy dummy “fake” tickets: with 2 adults RBOP and Swiss half family card, My child(13) should not pay anything. Website is keep charging me 30chf for my daughter. Am I doing anything wrong? Do i need to put child’s info for RBOP or not? I am confuse. I was told child is free because of swiss half card. Can someone guide on how to solve this and buy passes, please?

    Hi Anagan,

I answered the same question here: http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/buying-train-ticket-zurich-lucerne-for-13-yrold

If you have a Swiss Family Card, there is no need to purchase a ticket for your child. You don’t even need to key in your child’s details into the system. During ticket inspection, all you need to do is present the Swiss Family Card along with your ticket or regional pass.

If you have further questions, please post them in the above thread so we can keep track of all your questions and concerns in one thread.

    Thanks and regards,

    Anna

    Hello,

is point to point tickets refundable?

I see that if I buy rbop and Swiss half card in usd, price comes to $802. But in chf it comes to 720 chf! Big different. My credit card will not charge me international fee anyway so I will buy in chf. I just want all follow travelers to know this.

I saw on forums that happyrail company charges some fee in cancel pass. Is there any other website I can use that doesn’t charge fee.

why I can’t buy regional Bernese pass on sbb.ch website?

    Thanks for your understanding :-).
