Super-saver ticket or city-ticket?

Short summary – read this first

Chandra is planning a trip from Zurich to Lucerne in a few weeks and is unsure whether to buy a Super Saver day ticket or a City Ticket. They need advice on which ticket covers rail, boat, and bus travel for their journey.

Key takeaways:
  • Choose the City Ticket for travel flexibility as it includes rail, boat, and bus transport within the city.
  • If you're looking for a cost-effective option, the Super Saver ticket is cheaper but only valid for a specific train trip from Zurich to Lucerne.

Will both these tickets include Rail, boat and bus travel ?

Hi ChandraR and welcome to MySwissAlps!

A SuperSaver ticket is, in your case, from Zurich train station to Lucerne train station only but can be quite cheap (only valid for that specific departure though). If you buy the city ticket it will include any travel you require to get to/from those train stations as well (which is nice).
