Key takeaways:
  • After cruising Lake Brienz, take the steam train from the Brienzer Rothorn Bahn (BRB) station, which is just across from the main Brienz railway station.
  • To return to Interlaken OST, take the same steam train back down and then transfer to the train at Brienz station.
  • The Swiss Travel Pass can cover many train and boat rides, check its availability for your route.

I need some helps here. I am very confused over these 3 ststions: Brienz, Brienz Station (See), Brienz Rothorn Bahn and Brienz BRB. My travel rouths are as follow:

Route 1: Interlaken OST (See) takes boat to Lake Brienz [alight at Brienz station (See)]

Route 2: After Lake Brienz cruise , I want to go Brienz Rothorn. Which “Brienz” station to take Steam train to mountain Brienz Rothorn ? I want 1 way only.

Route 3: After the steam train ride, from Brienz Rothorn I want to go back to Interlaken OST by train. Where n Which station should I take?

    Thank.

    Hi Jenner,

Brienz See is the boat landing stage (https://www.myswissalps.com/boatlakebrienz).

Brienz Rothorn Bahn (BRB) is the station where you take the steam train to Brienzer Rothorn (https://www.myswissalps.com/brienzerrothorn).

The main railway station is called Brienz (not to be mistaken with Brienz West).

All three are located within walking distance of each other. Just follow the signages.

    Regards,

    Anna

    Anne,

My route 2: After Lake Brienz cruise , I want to go Brienz Rothorn. Which “Brienz” station to take Steam train to mountain Brienz Rothorn ? I want 1 way only.

For my route 2 ~ Do I need to take the SAME steam train from Brienz Rothorn BRB back to Brienz main station then train to Interlaken OST?

Any other transport to replace the steam train?

    Thanks.

    Hi Jenner,

You’ll find the route explained here: http://www.myswissalps.com/brienzerrothorn/gettingthere. There’s a map too.

The train to Brienzer Rothorn departs from across the street, opposite to the boat dock. You’ll take the same route back down, and then indeed a regular train to Interlaken Ost.

There is other transport but you’ll end up at the other side of the mountain (see the map). Not handy if you want to go to Interlaken!

    Hi Jenner,

Based on your plans, after the cruise on Lake Brienz, take the steam train departing from the Brienzer Rothorn Bahn (BRB) station. This is just across the road the main Brienz railway station. If you wan to continue to Interlaken Ost after your mountain excursion, I recommend taking the same steam train down, walk back to the Brienz railway station and take a connecting train to Interlaken Ost. If you travel via Sorenberg, it will take you longer to reach Interlaken.

The route is explained in detail here: http://www.myswissalps.com/brienzerrothorn/gettingthere

    Regards,

    Anna
