Day trip to Herzogenbuchsee from Zurich

    I am planning a day trip from Zurich to Herzogenbuchsee because that is the town my ancestors came from.   It looks like we will eat lunch there and take a little walk around town.  Are there any short hikes or other attractions we should visit between Herzogenbuchsee and Zurich?

    Hi SwissMaples,

    I just did a quick on the Swiss timetable (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/train/timetable/) and saw that the IR 35 direct train service from Zurich HB to Bern stops at Herzogenbuchsee. The journey takes only 1 hour. So definitely doable as a day trip with additional sightseeing in Bern (https://www.myswissalps.com/town/bern/). You could also get down at the next stop Burgdorf which is a small, lovely town with a medieval castle on top of a hill. Good for hiking!
