    Hello,

I have purchased a Swiss Travel Card for adults and Swiss Family Card for children. Since children travel free with adults, I wanted to know whether they are free for additional amounts payable for cable car rides. Eg- For Mount Titlis, we need to pay 50% amount so is this amount payable only for adults or is 50% amount payable for children too.

    Kindly let me know.

    Hi Dipu,

Children with Swiss family Card travel free on most mountains. For example, you don’t need to purchase their tickets for Mt Titlis, Pilatus, Schilthorn, Gornergrat, Jungfraujoch. They travel absolutely free.

However, if you are buying “priority boarding” for Gornergrat railway and taking reservation for cogwheel train in Alpanchstad (for Mt Pilatus) then you need to pay priority boarding/reservation charges for child as well

    Hi Dipu,

Yes, that’s right per Amol’s reply.  With a Swiss Family Card, you can take your children (6-15 years old) along for free as long as you have a valid rail pass such as the Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Travel Pass Flex or the Swiss Half Fare Card. This includes mountain excursions using cable cars, gondolas or cogwheel trains. So for your excursion to Titlis with your Swiss Travel Pass – travel to Engelberg is free for you and the children.

However you, yourself would still need to purchase a ticket to ride the cable car and gondola to the top (this is discounted with the Swiss Travel Pass). With your Swiss Family Card, there is no need to purchase tickets for the children at all. At the counter, just present the Swiss Family Card to get the access cards for the children. You can find more information in the below links:

    Hope this clarifies.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
