The thread was started by tourists seeking clarity on travel to Switzerland amidst COVID-19 challenges. They wanted to know entry requirements, testing protocols, and local health certificates. Information shared included updates on vaccination recognition, potential quarantine measures, and the ease of accessing COVID-19 tests in Switzerland.
Key takeaways:
Travelers need a valid COVID certificate or proof of vaccination to enter restaurants and other indoor venues in Switzerland.
Non-EU visitors can apply for a Swiss COVID certificate online if vaccinated with an accepted vaccine.
The COVID test must be taken within 72 hours before arrival in Switzerland, and travelers are encouraged to check specific local regulations before their trip.

Hi Merocasper,
I am sorry but as Egypt is listed as a high-risk country, you need to be fully vaccinated to be able to enter Switzerland. In your case, this means that you need to have both of the 2 doses of AstraZeneca.
Arno just updated the first post in this thread, you might want to have a look at that.

Hi Marvelett,
That’s unfortunate. On the other hand, it will give you more time to plan your trip 🙂

Anna, your reply to Marvelett was helpful to me as just last night we canceled our overseas trip, departing July 4.
I won’t have that family trip before twins go to college (mainly due to overall travel time and risk of not getting home in time due to the need to test).
I did, however, rebook for the day after all kids will be back home! (😀)
I will continue to refine our ideas but keep to the itinerary so I don’t once again get the “ih no, I read too much again” virus.😂
For those with new plans they are excited about for this year, ENJOY!!

LTommy I can so relate to this as it’s so difficult with testing and having to quarantine, I just find it’s better just to wait another year .I don’t want to but have to 😁

Hi. All the information posted and regularly updated here has been very useful! I am from Canada and I noticed that today Switzerland authority removed Canada from countries with a worrying variant. However it is not listed anywhere else in regards to entering Switzerland as a tourist. Does anybody know what is the entry status for Canadian tourist if they are not vaccinated? Is a negative test sufficient? (I am not a Swiss dual citizen/permanent resident and I don’t have EU passport)

Hi Liblum,
Thank you for joining MySwissAlps.
As of recently, the SEM list now contains countries which are considered non high-risk. All other countries not listed are considered high-risk, including Canada unfortunately. If you are not vaccinated, you will not be permitted entry for travel purposes. The list is regularly updated so it could change in a few weeks.
You can find all this information including links to official sites, on the first page of this thread.
Let us know if you have further questions.
Regards,
Anna

Today would have been our first day in Switzerland for a three and half week driving tour. Moved it all to September…May be a better experience…depends on the weather.
I am anxious to hear how others from the US experience with customs and border control with the new measures in place.
