Yep, I just saw that this morning as well. We will be traveling from the U.S. and will be in Switzerland Sept 1-13 (I’ve asked questions on this forum before…thank you). So, if this Covid-19 certificate becomes mandatory for indoors while we are traveling, where should we be finding information? Our local Tourist Offices? A health department? Online?

As has been stated several times. Things change. We are still three weeks out before our departure. However when I look at the following “Access to venues such as museums, zoos, fitness centres, climbing halls, swimming pools, water parks, spas, billiard halls and casinos is to be limited to COVID certificate holders,”. My current itinerary doesn’t include any of these. Just more things to consider to stay safe!

We have been checking MySwissAlps daily! It’s been so, so valuable in helping us through this planning (and replanning and replanning) our travels in Switzerland. So, as much as I would love to stay off the computer during this vacation, we will be watching this thread to see if we need to get a covid certificate, somehow, while we are there.

I am here in Switzerland now – and still have three weeks before my flight home. I will be watching the developments closely. Arno always seems to be on top of the situation.
Regarding the COVID 19 Certificate and tests for return….
1) How does the traveler get the certificate? We will be traveling on September 4 to Switzerland. We have filled out our forms and have our proof-of-vaccination cards we received in our home state. Is the Certificate a Swiss-specific document?
2) We bought 2 self test from United. It is true that if my husband bought them – that I cannot use one of them?

Hi Billandsuz1, Did you buy BinaxNOW self Covid test with online observation? If it is, as far as I have read I believe that you need to enter your name and birthday when you buy (kind of register) and both of you can use. People recommend to pack 2 tests for each person just in case. We bought directly from the website. Hope this helps.
I also bought a 2 pack of the Abbot BinaxNOW tests from the Optum store through the United website. I was unsure about who could use them so I called Optum. They said the tests are not connected to any specific person and that the two pack could be used for both me and my husband. They also said to check their website for further instructions and to download the app that is indicated on their website before leaving the US.

Thank you for your very helpful information. I am going to Switzerland on September 6th. I am fully vaccinated with 2 doses of Pfizer. I just wanted to confirm the answers to these 2 questions:
1. “For the return to USA, the Abbott Labs test is sufficient, no PCR test is needed”
2. For entry to Switzerland do I still need PCR test?

For question No. 2, if you are fully vaccinated you don’t need a PCR test to enter Switzerland. If you are arriving by plane, you need to fill out an entry form. As mentioned before by many, things may have changed since I arranged for and returned from my trip in August, but the Abbott home test is a rapid antigen and it was accepted. Note that I flew a US carrier for this specific reason and followed their suggestions so as to keep things simple. And it was. Best wishes with your plans.

Regarding the Abbott Binax NOW COVID-19 Home test
Per the suggestion of having 2 tests per person I purchased 6 tests through United for 3 people and my daughter purchased 6 for two (will use extras for a different trip). My tests arrived as scheduled but my daughter’s tests arrived over a week late and after she departed for the airport. We all had the NAVICA APP downloaded on our iPhones and iPads and created separate accounts prior to leaving home.
Knowing we could test at the airport if necessary, we relied on our box of 6 tests for 5 people.
As mentioned by others, these tests are not assigned to anyone during the purchase. They are assigned during the video appointment. Taking the test was easy. Yes, they can be taken at the same time on separate devices but we chose to stager them to prevent noise confusion. We found using the iphone was easier than the iPad when they were asking to see and scan various things. Everyone’s results with the QR code came back as expected, to the NAVICA app, except mine. My results were sent to my email with a PDF that was opened with a code. We all uploaded our results to United and all were accepted, both formats. We had a great trip! Hope this info helps

Regarding your question about the Covid certificate: If you are travelling to Switzerland from the US, a vaccination card is sufficient. The most important thing is to fill out the entry form before your arrival. when you do this you will be sent a QR code which you might need to scan at the airport and show your vaccination card.

We are leaving for Switzerland next week and found a small medical center online, near where we’ll be staying in Clarens (near Montreux) that offers rapid covid tests (free) or PCR tests for a cost. We emailed to confirm that we could get our tests there before returning to the U.S. mid-September.
I got an email response this morning, after sending a message late yesterday. We were impressed by the quick response and clear answer and because the reply started with the words, “No problem”. After dealing with the American medical system, it was like a breath of fresh air! We are so looking forward to being in the serene beauty of Switzerland!

Have seen multiple reports online that the EU will remove the US from its list of epidemiologically safe countries on Monday. I don’t know what this will mean for travel to Switzerland but it sure doesn’t sound good. We’re supposed to arrive from the US on 9/8. We are fully vaccinated so we’ll see……
Hi We still hoping to go to Switzerland on 9/14 We have our vaccine cards and the QR codes for our Swiss locator form. We have also applied for the French health passport by email but there was no response except an auto mated resposne that said you coudl get a antigen test at a Pharmacy and then qualify for a 72 hour french health passport which will be enough for our shrot visit to France. We plan to take a test in Switzerland on when we are there. Is an antigen test sufficeint and how early can you take it before you leave for home? I am still hoping we get to go but getting worried about all these news reports about Europe no longer wanting us because of the covid variant. Is it easy to get a antigen test in Wengen or at the Zurich airport? Do you need a reservation for the test?

Where are you seeing that information. We leave for Switzerland on September 1st. We literally just packed most of of things while we had a moment.
We have done the TravelCheck thing, are vaccinated, etc. Of course we are worried that things will change while we are in the air!
