Does the coronavirus affect trips to Switzerland?

Hi Mario,
That’s correct. The 2nd test performed between day 4 and 7 after arrival can be either a PCR test or a rapid antigen test. The 1st test that has to be done before entry to Switzerland has to be a PCR test. We’ve updated our information about this in the 1st post of this thread. Don’t worry abou the empty posts, I deleted them :-).
AnnikaModerator7127 posts5 December 2021 at 11:32:48 #933528Hi Ithinkusc,
A passport would certainly be fine to request for the certificate. You should normally receive confirmation within 5 working days (please refer to #5 in the 1st post of this thread).

when should i apply digital covid certificate? Is it 5 days before my departure date? Appreciate your advice
AnnikaModerator7127 posts5 December 2021 at 11:36:35 #933530Hello Tamy, welcome to MySwissAlps!
Yes, there are many test locations in Switzerland accessible to tourists. You can use the link under “Important notes” at http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/does-the-corona-virus-affect-trips-to-switzerland to find locations in or near your base town(s). You’ll have to pay for the tests yourself, and I’m not sure it the costs are covered by the GHIC. I suggest you contact them to make sure.
Yenhan10Participant38 posts5 December 2021 at 11:46:33 #933531What’s the average costs of doing PCR or Rapid Antigen test in Switzerland?
AnnikaModerator7127 posts5 December 2021 at 11:50:04 #933532Hello bear2019!
Processing a certificate request can take about 5 working days, so I’d apply earlier than that if I were you. About 10 days would be a safe time frame I think.
AnnikaModerator7127 posts5 December 2021 at 11:58:19 #933533Hi Yenhan10,
You’ll find sample prices using the link with test locations under “Important notes” at http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/does-the-corona-virus-affect-trips-to-switzerland. A PCR test may cost roughly between CHF 100 and CHF 190, a rapid antigen test between CHF 35 and CHF 80. But prices will differ per location and also depend on how quickly you need results.
FballguyParticipant39 posts5 December 2021 at 16:59:04 #933537Just sharing our experience…My wife and I applied for our Covid Certificates on 11/28 and rec’d approval on 11/29.
AnnikaModerator7127 posts6 December 2021 at 15:42:42 #933538Thanks for letting us know Fballguy! That’s a very quick response :-).
jorodriParticipant3 posts6 December 2021 at 15:56:09 #933539Im trying to make a COVID test appointment on my 5th day after arrival but the appointment forms that I have seen are asking me for my health card number. I can’t leave on blank this field. Can I use my travel health insurance number? Can I just walk in? Thanks.
sjomishkinParticipant11 posts6 December 2021 at 16:04:16 #933540Does our Swiss certificate work in other EU countries like Italy? Or do we need to apply for separate Italian green vaccine cards? Are the Swiss ONLY valid in Switzerland?
thank you!
AnnaModerator6397 posts6 December 2021 at 20:05:56 #933541Hi sjomishkin,
If you received one of the vaccines approved by the EMA (European Medicines Agency), you will be issued with a Swiss COVID certificate that is valid in EU member countries. For those jabbed with vaccines not authorised by Swissmedic or EMA but approved by the WHO (such as Sinovac and Sinopharm), the Swiss COVID certificate is only valid in Switzerland.
You can find more information about the Swiss COVID certificates including various important links, in the first post of this thread, in Section 3.
Regards,
Anna
AnnaModerator6397 posts6 December 2021 at 20:11:03 #933542Hi jorodri,
Welcome to MySwissAlps.
Some test centres do accept walk-ins. However it’s recommended to make prior appointments to avoid long queues. And it’s quite common for test centres to request for your health insurance no. In your case, you should provide your travel health insurance details, if you have one.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Anna
sjomishkinParticipant11 posts6 December 2021 at 20:13:27 #933543Wonderful! So our Swiss COVID certificates we were issued for having gotten then Pfizer vaccine will work in Italy as well, so I don’t need to apply for any more certificates.
thank you!
AnnaModerator6397 posts6 December 2021 at 20:29:26 #933544Hi sjomishkin,
That’s right.. Since you received the Pfizer vaccine, you will be issued with a Swiss COVID certificate that is also recognised in Italy. However be sure to check out the latest travel requirements in Italy. It seems like the measures have been tightened recently.
Regards,
Anna
jorodriParticipant3 posts6 December 2021 at 20:49:17 #933545Wow that was fast!! Thanks for your answer.
Still I don’t know what to write when the field is asking for a 80756XXXXXXXXXXX number… I found one forum on the internet that recommended to write zeroes after 80756 for foreign nationals… I can try to do that… hope it works… I have only the travel insurance. Can the pharmacy deny the covid test because you don’t have a Swiss health card?
Thanks for your help. This forum is quite helpful!!!
