Key takeaways:
  • Ensure to reserve your seats for the Eigergletscher to Jungfraujoch journey to use Fast Track and guarantee a seat.
  • You can get off at Kleine Scheidegg for hiking without losing your seat, but be prepared for possible wait times when returning to Grindelwald.
  • If you're unsure about the schedule, double-check with Jungfrau railways for confirmation.

I plan to use Fast Track when ascending to Jungfraujoch by Eiger Express. During descending, I plan use route via Grindelwald.

I know that there’s time restriction when boarding on train from Kleine to Jungfraujoch, means the time of ascending must match the time of descending if I paid for the seat reservation (i hope i am right).

Question: If I get off at Kleine for some hiking, will i still be secured with seat when descending to Grinderwald/Lauterbrunnen?

    Hi sansancheng33,

When purchasing a seat reservation for your trip to Jungfraujoch, this is for the  Eigergletscher – Jungfraujoch journey.  This also allows you to enter via fast track lane and board the Eiger Express at Grindelwald Terminal so you reach Eigergletscher in a timely manner to board your chosen train to reach Jungfraujoch. (Seat reservations are unnumbered but you are guaranteed a seat).

When making the seat reservation, you would have been asked to specify how long you intend to spend at Jungfraujoch.  For example, if you indicated 2 hours, then a corresponding departure time would be displayed for you to take the train back down to Eigergletscher and thereon to Grindelwald Terminal.

If you decide to hop off at Kleine Scheidegg, you won’t lose your seat in itself.  If it’s busy when you decide to go back down to Grindelwald, you may have to wait till you can board the Eiger Express again.  Perhaps connect up with Jungfrau railways and double check.

Should you need additional information on your visit to Jungfraujoch, you can take a read of our guide below:

    Have a great trip.

    Kind regards,
    Yolanda
