I like the 3 star Hotel Welschen. It is a 10 min. walk from the station by the bottom station of the Sunnega funicular. It sits on a rise overlooking the town with great views of the Matterhorn from many rooms and the grounds.

We will be walking with our rolling suitcases from the train station. Any difficulties getting to it?

No, it’s any easy stroll. But there are small electric cabs you can use if you want.

We once stayed at Le Petit Hotel which we liked very much. As its name implies it is small but it has atmosphere, the roof terrace and very pleasant helpful staff. if you let them know your arrival time they will send their little electric car to pick you up from the station. At least they did that when we stayed there some years ago! Don’t be put off when you arrive by its strange-looking shape! Some rooms are quite small but for a couple of nights that’s not a problem. The food and staff are great. Maggie
