First Flyer Grindelwald – Bag Deposit at First

Short summary – read this first

Meng is planning a trip to the First Flyer in Switzerland and wants to clarify the correct starting point and options for bag storage. They are specifically unsure if they can leave their bags at the First Flyer starting point and how to navigate between Schreckfeld and First without hassle.

Key takeaways:
  • You need to take the gondola to the First station to access the First Flyer.
  • You can leave your bags with the staff at the First Flyer counter while you enjoy the activities.
  • The price of the gondola ride to First is included in the First Flyer package.
  • Consider buying an adventure package to combine multiple activities like the First Flyer, First Glider, and Trottibike.

Hi, I came across this thread http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/first-flyer from 5 years ago, but I can’t find a solid answer.

In one of the threads, it’s mentioned that:

you get the cable car from grindlewald to shrekfeld….its a ride on a cable car with 3 stops….we got off at shrekfeld…one stop short of the top, First…..from there you can buy a ticket ( stash your bag) , get strapped into the Swiss seats(first flyer) and hauled up to first… then they let you go and you fly back down”

That seems to be case for Glider. The author was asking for Flyer. I’ve watched many new and old Youtube videos, but I haven’t seen anyone get hauled up on the Flyer from Schreckfeld to First. First Flyer only starts at First. Is this correct?

If so, can we leave our bags at Flyer starting point at First and take a gondola up from Schreckfeld to First again to collect it? If not, can anyone who has been there recently share your experience about the bag deposit?

I’m not looking for the bag deposit at Grindelwald station because it seems to be too much hassle.

    Best regards,

    Meng

    Hi Meng,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

Yes, to get to the starting point of the First Flyer, you need to take the gondola to the First station. If you have bags, you can leave them with the staff at the First Flyer counter. Once you are done, you can take the gondola back up and pick up your bags. The price of the gondola trip is included in the First Flyer package. You can also buy an adventure package and combine the First Flyer, First Glider and Trottibike activities in one day. You can find further details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/grindelwaldfirst
