Getting the most from the Zurich Card in 24 hours

Short summary – read this first

Trent is planning a one-day visit to Zurich after arriving early on December 27. He seeks advice on whether his itinerary is doable, including a walking tour, visits to key attractions, and a Lindt chocolate tour, while also considering potential bad weather.

Key takeaways:
  • Buy the Zurich Card, as it will help you save on public transport and entry fees.
  • If the weather is good, don’t skip Uetliberg, as it offers great views with minimal walking.
  • Be sure to arrive at the Lindt Chocolate tour by 4:30 pm as it closes at 6 pm.
  • Consider an indoor option like the National Museum if the weather is bad.

    Hi All,

I am in Zurich for 1 day only, arriving at ZRH at 6:10 am, and leaving 7am the following morning from Zurich HB to go to Chur then onto Tirano.

I want to buy a Zuirch card and get the most out of the day, but it also will be the middle of winter (Dec 27)

Can you confirm this is all doable in a day, or what I should drop. My plan is assuming the weather is good. If bad, I will keep to visiting museums

I have read all the links on this page, thank you in advance http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/zurich-city-pass-all-inclusions

I will reach the city about 9am and drop my bags off at the hotel (Bristol) and start from Zurich HB

Do my own paced walking tour (http://www.myswissalps.com/hiking/zurich/route) for a couple of hours. I wont do the lake part of the walk, and stop at the Opera House, but add in Rigiblick)

I will do the Polyban, add in the Rigiblick, visit Grossmunster and Fraumunster.

At 11am take the tram to Uetliberg (If bad weather, visit the National Museum)

In the afternoon, take a short lake cruise, and visit Lindt Chocolate tour.

Return to town and enjoy an early meal and go to bed.

My question, is this doable, what should I add, what should i remove?

If bad weather, I will reduce the walking elements, and remove Uetliberg. The lake cruise could be ok in bad weather?

Is this doable in a day, Thanks, Trent

    It’s all possible.

Don’t write off Uetliberg except in the worst weather, as it is a comparitively low altitude ‘high point’, at least it would allow you to take a break from walking!

    Hi FlyingKiwi,

I think this is a great plan for your day in Zurich. Make sure to arrive to Lindt Home of Chocolate in time, as it closes at 6 pm. So you should be there latest 4:30-4:45 pm.

    Take care,

    Ildiko

Excellent, thank you to you both.

Its nice when researched plans make sense, something that I could only validate with someone who has been to Zurich, so thank you.

I appreciate the support and validation, lets hope its a clear day..

    Trent
