The ride on the vintage funicular to the Grandhotel Giessbach takes only 4 minutes. You could also follow the trail and walk up to the hotel if you like. You’ll get a good view of the Giessbach waterfalls right from the hotel grounds. The view of Lake Brienz is also amazing. The hotel has a restaurant where you can have lunch. When I visited a few years ago, there was also a couple of food kiosks which sold takeaway foods. Optionally, you could walk up to the waterfalls. There’s a trail that leads to right under it. I would allocate at least 1 or 2 hours if you plan to include this short hike. We spent a good couple of hours there, and still didn’t have much time for walking around the falls.
The hotel was gorgeous and we opted for a nice lunch with exceptional views.
