Glacier Express bookings opened yesterday (13 Oct) for December 2026 onwards. I secured 2 seats (2nd class) on Wednesday 9 December from St Moritz to Zermatt and when I checked again this morning Australian time (about 16 hours later) there was 2 first class seats and 5 aisle seats remaining. Seems only one wagon for first class and one for second but maybe others for tour operators.

I was worried last night when the GE page advised my position in the queue was 1500 and wait time was about 6 hours however it moved quite quickly and I had my booking within 2 hours. There is a second train (920 & 905) from 12 December 2026 to 3 January 2027 and from 30 January to 7 May 2027 but I wanted to post my experience so others know the warnings to book early are real if you want specific dates. Especially at this time of year when the 93 days in advance doesn’t apply.

Thanks a lot for sharing that. Glacier Express availability challenges are real indeed. And I don’t think there will be capacity expansions in the foreseeable future.
