Correct. Train tickets do not sell out on Swiss trains and can be purchased online or at a station. Although with the Glacier Express you can’t get on the train without a reservation – normally you can just stand worse-case scenario. In this case you are all set. 🙂

Thank you Lucas.
My next leg of this trip is on Bernina Express from Davos Platz 1st class to Tirano and bus from Tirano to Lugano. I purchase reservation and ticket for this leg. Reservation for 1st class train was $14, reservation for bus was $14 and ticket from Davos Platz to Lugano is $57.50 for total of $85.50.
I will be staying in Filisur, so my plan is to get up that morning and take train from Filisur to Davos Platz before the Bernina Express @ 09:53 am.

Hi Steve,
You mentioned a ticket from Davos Platz to Lugano for $57.50. Note that a standard ticket is valid for the shortest or quickest route to reach Lugano, so not the Bernina Express route. I did a quick check and found a price of CHF 143 including reservations (1st class regular price if you don’t have a pass). Just want to make sure you are buying the right ticket.

I plan to buy Swiss travel Pass for my upcoming trip to switzerland from 28th July 2018. But before that, i plan to buy reservations for Glacier Express and Bernina express, lest they should get sold out. But before doing that, I want to know whether these reservations are refundable in case of cancellation of my trip. please help.

Your ticket from Davos Platz to Lugano is based on your having a Swiss Half Fare Card (it says that just before your name).
You mentioned on another thread that you intended to buy a Swiss Half Fare Card, so as long as you have it with you when you use this ticket, you will be fine.

No, reservations are not refundable. If you have travel insurance, you could check the policy wording to find out which (if any) cancellation costs are covered, and under what circumstances.

You are correct Alpenrose666, when I made my reservation i selected “half fare card” and intend on getting it before the trip. I think I read that tip on myswissalps.com.
Thank you for the confirmation.
