Hi Mat-
For these questions, and all others realted to timig of travel by public transport, check the timetable:
http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable.
You will see trains at 1505, 1605, 1705, 1735, 1805, 1835, 1905…… taking 34 minutes.
Similar service in return direction.
And, if you look at a map along with it, you’ll get abetter picture of what is involved:
map.search.ch/?pos=644928,168384&z=8
Zoom in to see the rail lines.
Lake boats also show in the timetable.
However, this website gives specifics:
http://www.interlaken.ch/en/c ruises-lake-thun-and-lake-brienz.html
No service on Lake Brienz, very limited service on lake Thun, both after October until April.

It is about 17.30 hours dark in Interlaken. But you can also travel in the dark back from Grindelwald to Interlaken. You have only 2 hours to visit Grindelwald, but it is a small village. In November it is mostly cold about that time, take warm clothes with you……
The Schilthorn is only nice by very good weather. When there are clouds or snowfall, you see noting and is it waist of your money (and time).

Thank very much Slowpoke for your guide. I have been following myswissalps with greater interest for the last couple of months to help me prepare for my Swiss trip in nov.
