Hello all! Thanks for this incredibly helpful website. We are planning a trip in June and I am trying to make seat reservations on a GoldenPass Panoramic train (2nd class) for four. I read at https://switzerlandtravelcentre.com/en/che/timetables-and-information that the train runs hourly: “From Zweisimmen, the GoldenPass Panoramic runs every hour between 08:02 and 17:02.” I see these departures on my SBB app as well and I had planned around those times. However, when I go to make seat reservations on the GoldenPass Express site (https://www.gpx.swiss), I see only trains going every two hours (10:30, 12:30, etc.). Further, the early trains are already booked up . . . but I guess that’s a separate issue.
I’m confused. Is there a difference between “express” panorama and regular panorama?

Felicity – you try to book seat in “GoldenPass Express” (https://www.gpx.swiss). It’s going between Montreux and Interlaken and it’s a different train than “GoldenPass Panoramic” (https://journey.mob.ch/en/routing). The second one is goinig between Montreux and Zweisimmen.

As Kamil explained, the GoldenPass Express is a direct train service between Interlaken and Montreux. The GoldenPass Panoramic and GoldenPass Belle Epoque run between Zweisimmen and Montreux only and operates hourly. It’s a great option if you want to hop on and off along the route, and if you wish to continue to Interlaken, you would need to continue with a regional train via Spiez. Seat reservation is not compulsory but recommended in peak season.
