    Hi there,

I was hoping for a bit of advice for a trip I’m taking to Grindelwald with my partner next month. We are arriving Saturday 30th December to Saturday 6th January.

Please could you advise on activities or trips we could do within this time? We have train/gondola to the top of Jungfrau; Eiger Express to Eiger; gondola to top of First, cliff walk and First glider. Are there any tips on best time of day to do these things?

Would you recommend any nearby villages or towns to visit?

Is there usually much activity happening in Grindelwald for New Years Eve or New Years Day? Such as fireworks, live music etc.

Also are there any hotels with spas that allow access to non-guests?

We are very much looking forward to our trip!! Thank you in advance for any help.

    Hi EmmaG,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

Grindelwald turns into a buzzing winter sport destination from mid December to mid April. If you feel adventurous but not quite into skiing or snowboarding, you might want to try sledding or go for a relaxing winter hike.

Excursions to Grindelwald First and the top of Jungfrau are best in the morning ideally after checking the weather forecast and mountain webcams. It gets dark early in winter so starting early will give you more time to enjoy your activities.

There is usually a big display on New Year’s Day in Interlaken.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi EmmaG,

In addition to Anna’s tips.Ā  There is an annual Trychler parade that takes place in the village during the evening of the 31st of December.Ā  That could be a fun.

There is also a special drone show that will be taking place over the village after midnight.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda

Would love to see the parade. Is this in Grindelwald or Interlaken?
