Grindelwald Grund to Grindelwald Terminal

Short summary – read this first

Anna started a thread asking for help figuring out train connections to reach the Jungfrau region. She specifically wanted to know how to get to the station in Grund and what routes are available from there. Several users provided clear guidance on the train routes and connections to other scenic spots in the area.

Key takeaways:
  • You can travel directly from Grindelwald Grund to Kleine Scheidigg in 24 minutes.
  • Direct trains are also available from Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidigg, taking about 32 minutes.
  • The Grund station is just a stop on the same route as the train from Grindelwald.
  • Consider purchasing the Swiss Travel Pass for unlimited travel on trains and public transport in the region.

Grund is where the mountain train turns to climb up to the top of Kleine Scheidigg. Directly adjacent to it are the gondola terminals for the same and for the Mannlichen gondola. It’s a little downhill from the terminus of both the mountain train and all local trains in central Grindelwald. The Jungfraujoch train is either accessible from The Kleine Scheidigg station, or the Kleine Scheidigg tram terminus. The mountain train then descends from the top of Kleine Scheidigg down into Wengen and the Lauterbrunnen valley.

    i hope that helps!

    Hi,

please check the attached screenshot. Train station Grund is in the middle between Terminal and the main train station in Grindelwald. If you look at the attached file: Terminal is left, main station is right, and Grund is in the middle.

From the main station there is a train that gets you to Grund, and from Grund there is a separate train that takes you to Kleine Scheidigg.

    Scot,

isn’t the photo that you have attached from Lauterbrunnen?

    Hi Anna,

There are direct train connections between Interlaken Ost and Grindelwald Terminal. If you’re travelling from Grindelwald Grund, you can take a train to Grindelwald (main station) then change train for Grindelwald Terminal.

You can find further details here:

    Regards,

    Anna

I see a direct train from Grindelwald Grund to Kleine Schedegg ( 24 minute travel time ) and also a direct train from Grindelwald to Kleine Schedegg ( travel time 32 minutes )

Do these two trains follow different routes ? Or Grund is a stop in between for the train from Grindelwald to Kleine Schedegg ?

    Hi Anna1,

Grund is indeed just a stop. It’s the same route and the same train.
