Tours to Gruyeres cheese & Broc chocolate factory

Short summary – read this first

Deshani is wondering whether to take a guided tour to Gruyeres and Broc or explore these places independently. She asks if the tour offers significant benefits, particularly in terms of tasting or making cheese and chocolates. It's great to know there are options for tasting at both locations even without a guided tour.

Key takeaways:
  • You can explore Gruyeres and Broc on your own without needing a guided tour, as the entry tickets already cover informative audio guides.
  • The Swiss Travel Pass includes entry to both cheese and chocolate factories, so it's a great option to save on costs.
  • At Gruyeres, you can sample three types of cheese, and at Broc, enjoy unlimited chocolate tasting in their tasting room.

    Hi,

Quick question.. to check whether it is worth taking a guided tour to Gruyeres & Broc or if we do it on our own, is it good enough? Any significant benefit of doing the tour?

Does the standard tour allow you to actually make/taste?

    TIA!

Is there a separate guided tour ? I thought its all inclusive in the entry ticket

Both these factories provide you audio guide which can be pointed to marked areas to listen to informative description about the process and other related stuff.

At Gruyeres, there are screens playing informative videos in loop and you can hear the voice over on the audio player provided to you.

    Almost similar experience at Broc.

Entries to both these factories are covered on Swiss Pass so I am not sure if there is any additional charge for the audio guides.

On your question about making/tasting, Gruyeres provides you 3 cheese samples of various aging while Broc provides you unlimited chocolate tasting in their tasting room.

No making experience at either place

On the myswissalps site, there is a tour of both done by an external party. So that’s why I was a bit confused.

    Thankyou for the info Rohan!

    Hello Deshani,

The tours you’re referring to (see link below) are organised coach tours.

If you plan visiting the places individually there’s no need to book a tour, simply use your Swiss Travel Pass:
