Hiking the Swiss Via Alpina: Red or Green?
A traveler named Marcus is planning a hiking trip on the Via Alpina Red this summer but is torn about whether to include the Via Alpina Green section. He seeks advice on whether to complete just the Red route or to detour for the Green trail, along with recommendations for the best alpine club to join for discounts at huts, as he starts his journey in Trieste around July 5th.
- If you're short on time, it’s best to stick to one trail to avoid rushing.
- Consider joining the Swiss Alpine Club for helpful resources and potential discounts on huts.
- Check online for practical hiking tips related to your trails.

Hey,
This Summer I am planning on hiking the whole Via Alpina Red, but I am feeling a torn about missing Via Alpina Green. I have never seen that section and I curious if anyone has done both before what they would recommend? Should I just do all of red or get off at intersection to do the Green trail then pick back up on the red.
Also what is the cheapest or best alpine club to join to get discounts at the huts for red trail. I am a bit confuses as to which one to join?
I’m also planning on starting in Trieste around July 5th
Thanks for the help!
