A traveler is planning their first trip to Switzerland in September. They need recommendations for a good place to stay in Zurich for one night, especially near the train station since they will arrive around 18:00 and catch an early train to St. Moritz the next morning. They are both in their early 70s but in good shape and would appreciate some helpful accommodation tips.

Key takeaways:
  • Look for hotels near the Zurich main train station for easy access to your early morning train to St. Moritz.
  • Consider making reservations as soon as your travel dates are decided to secure your stay.
  • Research accommodations online using filters by town for more options.

Our first trip to Switzerland will in September. Our itinerary is pretty stable and now we need to start looking at accommodations.  Does anyone know of a good place to stay in Zurich for one night near the train station as we will be arriving Zürich around 18:00 and want to catch an early train the next morning to St. Moritz. We are both in our early 70’s, but in pretty good shape. Thanks

    Hi surfer,

Within the link that Alpenrose has provided, you can also research other accommodations by “town” for your trip here.  Just use the drop down filter.

Any questions, feel free to reach out.

    Happy planning.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Surfer,

with the incredibly efficient train system in Zurich, I didn’t have any problem getting to my early morning flight from central Zurich. I stayed at a hotel next to the opera House (opernhaus). a train station (stadelhofen) was 3 minutes walk away, and if memory serves me correctly, it took me about 20 minutes to get to the airport….  it was all very easy… just don’t leave the big box of sprungli chocolates bought at their shop next to the train station on the train like I did . 🙂

I definitely recommend in the center instead of near the airport.. right next to the lake, close to shops, restaurants, a 10 minute walk to the old town.. It’s my favourite part of Zurich.

    Thanks all!
Occhoi01 do you happen to know the name of the hotel you stayed at.   Also since we are traveling in September is it to soon to make accommodation reservations?

    Thanks

    Hey Surfer,

I stayed at The Lauberhorn… It’s a couple blocks from the train station which is at one end of town.. Just FYI, there is a Coop grocery next to the train station in Wengen. so that is helpful also for fruit, drinks, snacks. .. and no. it’s definitely not too soon.. I would say make reservations as soon as you decide the dates. I personally love Wengen..

    Hi surfer!

In addition: I’ve listed our recommended Zurich hotels near the central rail station under “Hotels near the Zurich main train station” at https://www.myswissalps.com/accommodation/hotels/zurich/.
