I haven’t stayed in any of the hotels. From what I see it’s a 20 minute walk. Should be do-able for your kids? Alternatively you could take a bus. Use the Swiss timetable, and put Zermatt Kapelle Winkelmatten (I guess that one is the closest to the hotel) as your destination.
