How to subscribe to the MySwissAlps forum

Short summary – read this first

Tuyeda is trying to figure out how to subscribe to a forum on Swiss Travel Pass promotions but is having trouble finding the right features. They've created an account and signed up for a daily newsletter but need help with specific thread subscriptions. They’re also interested in purchasing two 3-day Swiss Travel Passes for August and are curious about possible discounts.

Key takeaways:
  • To get immediate notifications for new posts in a specific thread, join the discussion and click the subscribe button at the top of that thread.
  • Regular prices for the Swiss Travel Pass may only change with exchange rates, but keep an eye on their promotional pages for the latest updates and possible discounts.

I want to subscribe to this forum (mainly so I can find out if there will be a promotion on the swiss travel pass). The instructions say:

    Forum topic subscriptions

You can receive an e-mail as soon as someone posts a reply in a specific forum topic. To subscribe or unsubscribe from these emails, please visit the topic you’re interested in.

I already created an account and I signed up for a daily newsletter, but that seems to be something separate from a forum subscription. I looked in the forum but I see no place where I can subscribe. Maybe I am blind but I looked for this on both my phone and with a computer. Can you tell me how to subscribe?

    Thank you.

    Hi Tuyeda,

Welcome to MySwissAlps! If you go to your account page at http://www.myswissalps.com/ac count, you’ll see a setting “New forum messages” under “E-mail you want to receive”. That’s where you can set how often you’ll receive an e-mail about new forum posts.

The text you quoted about forum topic subscriptions is about how to be notified immediately if someone posts in one specific thread (topic) you are interested in. If you want that, you first need to go to that thread and click the button in the top. You don’t need to do so if you already joined the discussion in that thread.

For Swiss Travel Pass promotions you can take a look at http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/promotio ns at any time. You don’t need to subscribe to forum e-mails to do so, but of course a subscription is always useful to get the latest updates of about anything regarding Switzerland 🙂

    Have fun!

    Thanks for the reply, Arno.

I think I had already signed up for the email (once a day) while creating my account. It was already checked… it seems to be for “all” forums though.

As you mentioned if I wanted to get immediate notifications for a certain forum… (Yes, this is exactly what I want)… then I should click a button. That’s what I was expecting… some type of “subscribe” button but I don’t see one. I looked using my phone and my computer.

However, you said it will be automatic is I’ve joined a discussion, so maybe it will be automatic now that I created my post.

I do know that I can check for promotions on my own. I had been doing that for the last week but got tired of doing it manually. Seemed like an account and subscription would be better 🙂

    Thanks,

    Todd

    Hi Todd,

You can subscribe to all forum updates, as you do did. You can subscribe to the updates (new posts) within a single thread as explained. But you can’t subscribe to all updates in one specific forum, out of the four, sorry 🙂

I’m sure you’ll find what you need though!

Oh… Ok. So i think i understand now. I had been trying to subscribe to a single forum (swiss rail travel). I guess that’s not possible and that’s why i didn’t see a button. As i mentioned, my reason for subscribing is so i will be notified if there is a new promotion for the swiss rail pass. It sounds like I should subscribe to an individual thread for this but i don’t see anything applicable. Maybe i can just ask you this question instead. I’m just interested in buying two 3-day swiss travel passes (for August). Do you expect that there will be any discounts on it or will the price probably remain constant. I already know the exact days for sure so it’s just a matter of when I purchase them. Thsnks for your help 🙂

    Hi Todd,

Since you still have time I’d recommend to wait for a bit and keep an eye on the below pages for the regular prices and promotions:

Regular prices will only change along with the exchange rates. Promotions may come and go. You’ll find out on those pages once there are any.
