I am hearing conflicting stories regarding the fastest way to and from these two Wengen and Lauterbrunnen. On one hand I have heard 15 minutes via Funicular on various web sites including Rome2Rio. However, I have also heard the quickest way is a 1 hour and 25 minute ride via cogwheel. Which is it? I have gone into this expecting 15 minute rides so this would change my entire outlook. We are staying in a Wengen Chalet overlooking the Lauterbrunnen valley. Any help is greatly appreciated!

There are only two ways to get between Wengen and Lauterbrunnen. One is to walk. The other is a 15 minute cog wheel train.

The best way to get information on Swiss public transportation is to use the SBB website. Any other site could be folly, as you’ve discovered!

We also stayed at a Wengen property and I can assure you it is only about 15 min from top to bottom (or bottom to top) 🙂
