    Hi everyone.

i am planning to take a day trip to Glacier 3000 from Bern in August 2020.

I am finding it difficult to find a proper route on the trains.

I am planning to use a Swiss travel pass.

could someone help me out with the best and fastest route to take from Bern, and any costs that would not be included with the STP.

    Many thanks

    Glen

    Hi Glen,

you need to get to “Col-du-Pillon, Glacier 3000”, this is where the cable car starts: http://www.myswissalps.com/glacier3000/gettingthere. You can get there from Bern in 2,5 hours according to the timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable), but you need to change a few times. If you would like to take a different route going back to Bern after the Glacier 3000, write in Bulle as a via-station, this route is a bit longer, but then you can see more from the country. If you wish you can have a stop in Gruyères on your way, it is a lovely medieval village with a very famous cheese (and cheese factory).

With the Swiss Travel Pass you can get to the station of the cable car for free, and you will get 50% discount on the cable car. For more info see the validity map of the Swiss Travel Pass at http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity.

Main line train Bern – Zweisimmen (sometimes direct, sometimes chaage st Spiez)

MOB train Zweisimmen – Gstaad (28 minutes)

Bus Gstaad – Col du Pillon (33 minutes)

Departing Bern at 08.39 would get you to Col-du-Pillon at 11.10
