How to pay accommodation city tax in Switzerland?
Rohan has prepaid for his hotel stays in Switzerland but is unsure about the city tax payment method. He wants to know if it’s paid in cash or if cards are accepted and what other places might require cash payments during his trip.
- City tax is usually charged separately at check-in or check-out, so check with your hotel if it's included in your rate.
- It's generally acceptable to pay the city tax by card, but it's a good idea to have some cash ready in case the hotel doesn’t accept cards.
- For other establishments, consider having cash available for small purchases, especially in more remote areas.

Hi All,
I have booked and pre paid for all my hotel accommodations in advance however I understand city tax needs to be paid at every hotel. Is it to be paid in cash or do they accept cards ?
What would other establishments where I would Possibly need to pay by cash mandatorily ?
I am working out the split between my currency on cash and card
Thanks
Rohan
