How to best reach Beatus Caves from Interlaken
A traveler is planning a boat trip from Interlaken to Thun in July with their two young kids. They want to minimize walking and are seeking advice on whether to visit the St. Beatus Caves by bus first or to take the boat directly from Interlaken before stopping at the caves.
- Take bus no. 21 from Interlaken to reach Beatus Caves easily without much walking.
- The walk inside the caves is about 1 km one way, so plan accordingly.
- Check the boat timings in advance, as they may not be available in the morning.
- The Swiss Travel Pass does not cover Beatus Caves, so look for hotel discount cards to save money.

Hi,
Planning to do a boat trip from Interlaken to Thun (in July) and also wanted to see St. Beautus Caves. I have 2 kids with me (6 years and 4 years) so want to prevent walking as much as possible. Looks like bus no. 21 from Interlaken (towards Thun) stops right in front of the caves. Can someone suggest how can I do the boat trip with the caves. Should I take a bus and get down at Beatushohlen (see the caves) and then take a boat from here to Thun or should I take a boat from Interlaken to Thun, and stop at some stop near the caves? (which i think requires a lot of walking). Please advise on the route and time taken for this trip. Also, is it possible to cover Schynige Platte the same day? I am staying in Murren.
