I have 4 days STP, on the 4th day from Interlaken, i am travelling to Paris using

    1. SBB IC61 (1071 direction Basel SBB) at 16:30 hours

2.Basel to Paris Gare de Lyon using TGV 9230 at 21:37

My understanding is that Interlaken to Basel leg is covered under STP (no additional ticket required). I need to purchase ticket from Basel to Paris. Is that correct?

This is little over 5 hours journey switching 2 trains. Is there faster train option available around 16 hours from Interlaken to Paris?

Use the Use the timetable on the SBB website (bit.ly/2HH1U7B) or the highly-recommended SBB Mobile app (bit.ly/2ICIUHi) to plan your travel from Interlaken to Paris. It will tell you if there are any faster connections.

    Hello Ydwivedi,

Yes, your Swiss Travel Pass will cover the journey up to the Swiss border, whichever route you will take. Check below links for verification and for purchase options of the french ticket for your journey:
    http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity, incl. map
    http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/france

If I search the connection you mention (whereas I don’t know the date), I see that the TGV 9230 REACHES Paris at 21.37, it leaves Basel at 18.34. Use this link to crosscheck:

    Hope this helps.

    Best,
    Steph

“Is there faster train option available around 16 hours from Interlaken to Paris?”

    No chance!

You are already taking by far the quickest way from Interlaken to Paris by land, with a deliberately slick connection at Basel.

By comparison, in my youth in 1978 the journey took 10 hours…

Incidentally it is train 1078 not train 1071 from Interlaken to Basel
