Short summary – read this first

A traveler, Samir, is planning a one-day itinerary based in Spiez. He wants advice on the best route to take from Interlaken to Thun via Sigriswil Road, as well as recommendations on which Sigriswil stop to choose, while also considering a visit to Bern and the Harder Kulm during sunset.

Key takeaways:
  • Choose Sigriswil, Dorf as your stop for the best views and access to the Panorama Bridge.
  • From Spiez, take a bus to Thun, then switch to bus 25 to Sigriswil, Dorf for a convenient scenic route.
  • The bus 25 from Thun runs every 30 minutes; plan your journey using the SBB timetable.
  • If coming from Interlaken, take bus 21 to Gunten, then switch to bus 25 for Sigriswil.

    Team

I’m planning to keep this itinerary for one day.

    My base location is Spiez.

I heard that Interlaken to Thun via Sigriswil Road journey is one of the most beautiful scenic view. As i have next day Brienz cruise so don’t want to opt for Lake Thun Cruise.

While checking with SBB apps – Interlaken OST to Thun (via Sigriswil) – I can see multiple Sigriswil i.e a) Sigriswil Post b) Sigriswil Endorf, c) Sigriswil Dorf. So which one we should select and do you think its beautiful – your recommendation is highly welcome. Is there any direct Bus journey via Sigriswil as I can see multiple hop-on and hop-off.

    – So my plan is like Spiez/Interlaken to Thun via Sigriswil

    – Visit Bern for half day (•Einsteinhaus by walk, •Zytglogge clock tower (astronomical world heritage), •Berner Münster/Bern Cathedral, •Munsterplatz, •Cathedral Park (good view backside from this cathedral park), •Kafigturm, •Barengraben/bear park)

    – Back to Harder Kulm during Sunset

    Regards, Samir

    Hi Samir,

If your destination is the Panorama Bridge in Sigriswil, you should select Sigriswil, Dorf as your stop.

From Spiez, take a bus to Thun, then switch to bus 25 to Sigriswil, Dorf. Alternatively if you want to experience the scenic bus route around Lake Thun, take a train from Spiez to Interlaken. In Interlaken take bus 21 in the direction of Thun. Then switch to bus 25 from Thun to continue to Sigriswil. Please use the SBB timetable to plan your journey.

Put simply, there is one main bus route Thun – Sigriswil, number 25. It runs every 30 minutes throughout the day from Thun main station via Gunten to Sigriswil.

From the Interlaken direction you can connect with this bus at Gunten Dorf bus stop. Take a bus 21 from Interlaken along the north shore of the Thunersee ( so not actually that different from taking the boat!)
