    Sorry to jump in.

I find we can buy the STP at the time of use, when we land in Switzerland. I hope the price is same if we buy in advance or if we buy when we land at Zurich airport and I hope we can buy across the Train counter and start using.

Its only if someone buys in advance and IF the plan is cancelled its refundable. What is benefit in buying in advance?

Also I hope part usage in not refundable. That is bought 8 days pass, but sued for 6 days only.

    Sorry for my ignorance.

    Hi sanjeev,

From time to time there is a Swiss Travel Pass promotion (not too often, like just once or maybe twice per year). If there is a promotion, we always write about it in the MySwissAlps Forum, and you can also find it here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/promotions.

The other reason is that people do choose to save time here in Switzerland and skip the queue at the ticket counter. (There might be a queue, especially at rail stations of airports and popular towns.)

But yes, you can buy your Swiss Travel Pass after arriving in Switzerland.

You can read about this more here: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/wheretobuy.

No, part usage is not refundable, if you spend 6 days in Switzerland, you can buy the 6 days long Swiss Travel Pass (new, from this year). But if you are staying 5 days you do not get back from the price of the 6 days long Swiss Travel Pass. In most cases, it is still much better and cheaper to ‘lose’ 1 day than to buy the point to point tickets. If you are in doubt, you can calculate your costs with the help of the calculation spreadsheet.

Please, let me know if you have further questions,

    Take care,

    Ildiko
