Me and my wife are planning for the trip to Switzerland for 10 days.  What will be the better time, mid July (15th to 24th July) or end of August (27th August to 5th September).

Weather and cost of hotels shall be better for which period?  Should I consider mid-september for the visit?

Appreciate a response and thanks in advance.

It depends on whereabouts in Switzerland you intend to go, but in general I would favour choosing mid-September for both pleasant weather and smaller crowds. July can be quite stormy in the mountains, and whilst it doesn’t usually rain all day, afternoon storms are not uncommon in July.

I don’t think it would make any difference to the cost of hotels whether you went in July, August or September. Mid-June to mid-October is more or less the summer high season, with peak crowds in July and August.

Definitely mid-September. Far fewer crowds, weather is usually the best of the year (but no one can predict!)

In addition to the helpful replies, Swiss schools are also already back in term at the end of August so for sure local crowds should also be less.
