Jungfraujoch: buy Jungfrau Travel Pass on top of Swiss Travel Pass?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler shared that they will be in Switzerland for 12 days starting September 16 and have already bought the Swiss Travel Pass. They are looking for advice on whether to buy the Jungfrau Travel Pass for a day trip to Jungfraujoch or if they can find cheaper options.

Key takeaways:
  • You don't need the Jungfrau Travel Pass if you're only visiting Jungfraujoch once; your Swiss Travel Pass gives you a 25% discount for that trip.
  • If you plan to use mountain transportation frequently in the Jungfrau region, consider the Jungfrau Travel Pass, but check the discounts offered by your Swiss Travel Pass first.

We are spending 12 days in Switzerland beginning September 16. We have bought the Swiss Travel Pass. We want to spend one day visiting Jungfraujoch and are wondering if we should buy the Jungfrau Travel Pass or if there are less expensive options?

    Thank you.

    Hi Jackson7,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

If Jungfraujoch is your sole trip when you are in the region, I would not recommend purchasing the Jungfrau Travel Pass.  Your Swiss Travel Pass will already give you a 25% discount for a visit to Jungfraujoch.

Our Jungfraujoch guide explains all, see the link below:

Of course, if you envisage using the mountain transportation a lot in the Jungfrau region, it may be worth purchasing or you may find the Swiss Travel Pass discounts will be sufficient.

Perhaps take a read of the Jungfrau Travel Pass guide – cross reference with your plans and compare the Swiss Travel Pass coverage/discounts.  Here are the links:

    Kind regards,
    Yolanda
