Hello, We are staying in Murren for 4 nights in Sept and have 3 full days of hiking . We are NOT going to jungfraujoch or Schilthorn (we’re been before) but will be using various transportation to Birg, Eigergletscher, Kleine scheidegg, Mannlichen, Wengen and Schynige Platte. I tried to make a spreadsheet to compare costs but can’t find every little leg of each journey (ie= Murren to Mannlichen via Lauterbrunnen, etc) So, Is it worth getting the Jungfrau Travel Pass? Thanks for any insight you can offer. If it helps, we’re arriving by train from Zurich and will return same way.

    Hi SWolp,

Thank you for joining MySwissAlps and welcome to the forum.

Based on your plans, using the Jungfrau Travel Pass is practical. The Jungfrau Travel Pass provides unlimited free travelling on almost all modes of transportation in the Jungfrau region. With the pass, you can avoid buying expensive point-to-point tickets for each trip. For instance, you won’t need tickets to travel from Mürren to Lauterbrunnen on the cableway, Lauterbrunnen to Wengen on the train, and Wengen to Männlichen on the cable.

You can view and download the Jungfrau Travel Pass validity map here: http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrautravelpass/validity

    Hope this helps.

    regards,

    Anna

Thanks so much for your reply. I have one more question about transport. It’s about the Swiss Saver Day pass. I’m flying into Zurich and taking the train to Murren. Can I buy the Swiss saver Day Pass for that train trip? The date is known and the it seems like the regular fare is about $90. (Do I need to put this in a different thread?)

    Hello SWolp,

All information on the Saver Day Pass can be found here:

A Saver Day Pass is Switzerland wide so yes, it will cover your journey from Zurich to Mürren. There are exceptions but you can read all about these in the above link and navigating through the tabs.

The other option for a ticket to Mürren is perhaps a Supersaver ticket. That said these tickets are time and date specific, so if you miss the connection you will need to buy another ticket.

Note, if you decide to run with the Jungfrau Travel Pass and it starts on your day of arrival. In this instance, you would only need to purchase a train ticket from Zurich to Interlaken, thereon your pass will take you to Mürren (Cable car and train from Lauterbrunnen to Mürren is free).

Thank you for your consideration, if you have further questions – yes, best to open up another thread 🙂

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
