What does the Jungfraujoch ticket include?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Vicki is planning a trip to Jungfraujoch on September 1 and is unsure about what her 200.80 euro ticket includes. She is staying in Grindelwald and wants to know the best route to take while also verifying if she can start and stop her journey from Grindelwald instead of Interlaken.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider using public transport for your trip, as much of the Jungfrau region is car-free.
  • Check out the Jungfraujoch travel guide and video for detailed route and pricing information.
  • It may be beneficial to invest in the Swiss Travel Pass for convenient travel across various forms of transport.
  • You can park your car in Grindelwald, making it easy to access the station for your journey.

I’m not clear on what the ticket for the Jungfraujoch includes, i.e., how many trains/cogwheels it includes. I see the full price ticket is 200.80 euros on Sept 1.

I read “The Jungfraujoch ticket entitles you to a return ticket to the Jungfraujoch. You can take the cogwheel railway from Grindelwald/Wengen to the Jungfraujoch or take the Eiger Express gondola.”  And also read “Go up via Wengen and down via Grindelwald to not miss any of the scenery.” which I would like to do. I’m staying in Grindelwald but have a car to start and end to see the best scenery.

Could you please clarify the best way for me and if its all included in the price?  Thank you.

    Hi Vicki,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

That’s great you are planning a visit to Jungfraujoch.

What I would suggest you do is to have a read of our Jungfraujoch travel guide and also watch the video which will explain the three different routes to Jungfraujoch. All the pricing is explained too.

    Here’s the link:

Do note, a lot of the Jungfrau region is car-free, so your best bet is to travel around by public transport. (Depending how long you are in the area and Switzerland in total, it may make sense to invest in a rail pass (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/tickets/compare/ )).

I hope this gets you started, do reach out if you have further questions.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda

I watched the video and it helped a lot. The video talks about mostly starting in Interlaken. Can we get start and stop in Grindewald? I think yes, but want to verify.

You can drive the car to Grindelwald.  But you cannot drive to either Wengen or Murren.  As Yolanda has said, it may be worth your buying some kind of ‘Pass’ covering rail and other forms of public transport.

    Best wishes

    Roger

    Thanks Roger.

We have a car and are staying at a hotel in Grindelwald, so we can leave the car parked there.  As long as we can get on/off at Grindelwald instead of Interlaken East. I think that would be the easiest. Would you agree?

    Hello again Vicki.

Parking the car at your hotel in Grindelwald is undoubtedly the best plan.

    Best wishes on your travels.

    Roger.
