Lake Geneva Boat tours from Montreux/Lausanne

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is planning a trip to Switzerland, specifically looking for a nice 3-4 hour boat tour or cruise from either Montreux or Lausanne. They want to know if any of these tours are covered by the Swiss Travel Pass and are also considering a brief stop at Glacier 3000 on their way to Zermatt.

Key takeaways:
  • Most boats on Lake Geneva are covered by the Swiss Travel Pass, excluding special cruises like dinner cruises.
  • For a scenic experience, take the boat ride between Montreux and Lausanne to enjoy the Lavaux area.
  • Check the CGN website for general timetables, as the September schedule may not be completely available yet.
  • If planning a stop at Glacier 3000, allocate about 3-4 hours for travel and exploring the Peak2Peak suspension bridge.

    Hi taurus0515,

All boats (except for special cruises such as dinner cruises) on Lake Geneva are covered with the Swiss Travel Pass. More about the validity of the Swiss Travel Pass: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/validity).

You can read more about the boats on Lake geneva here: http://www.myswissalps.com/boatlakegeneva.

I recommend the route between Montreux and Lausanne, so you can admire the beautiful Lavaux area. Or also the boat trip from Lausanne to Yvoire (France) is exciting as that is a small medieval town. in this case the town is more interesting than the boat trip. in my opinion the most beautiful boat trip is from Lausanne to Montreux. 🙂

Thank you. Is there a time-table available for September?

    Another question:

On Day 12 on my way from Montreux to Zermatt, I am wondering if i could make a brief stop at Glacier3000.

Need to store baggage at Aigle train station. Les Diablerets does not have baggage storage.

How much time should i anticipate for this stopover, if I want to do the Peak2Peak suspension bridge walk?

    Hi taurus0515,

no, the timetable for September is not yet totally available. You can download a general timetable from the website of CGN in pdf. You’ll find their website here: http://www.myswissalps.com/boatlakegeneva – search for the ‘Information on other websites’ box.

From Aigle to Glacier 3000 it takes around 1,5-2 hrs to get (one way). Regarding the Peak Walk you can count with 30 mins (including the walk and admiring the view). But you might want to try other things if you are there: http://www.myswissalps.com/glacier3000

Here is how you can reach the Glacier 3000: http://www.myswissalps.com/glacier3000/gettingthere.
