You can’t get a more picturesque city than Lucerne! It has a lovely lake, ringed by snowy mountains, a river running through it, and beautiful architecture. City sights are easily walkable. We were there for 4 nights and could easily have stayed longer, loved it. You may have to weave your way through the tour groups in some parts in the afternoons however!
Hi We stayed at Barabas Hotel in Luzern an old prison converted into a hotel snd booked superior room with a double bed and sofa bed ,it is centrally located ,all point of interests walkable and Coop store round the corner..we stayed there from 4th to 6th june.

I also enjoyed Weggis, a smaller village along the lake. There’s no train station, but there’s a good bus service to several directions. Some more alternatives to Lucerne are mentioned at myswissalps.com/lakelu cerne/hotels.
Can recommend the Hotel Central in Luzern. A few minutes walk from the station, lovely spacious, clean rooms, good breakfast, and friendly staff. The breakfast area/lounge is available all the time, with complimentary tea and coffee, and usually croissants and fruit. You can bring in food from the supermarket or restaurant takeaway and have dinner in, there’s also a couple of tables on a little balcony overlooking the street.

I’ve stayed at the AMERON Luzern Hotel Flora (and will again in September). A very nice hotel near train station and one minute from the Chapel Bridge.
