Best Landwasser viaduct photo location

Short summary – read this first

Bingobrian is looking for the best spot to take iconic photos of a viaduct in Switzerland. They want a location that isn't too far for their wife, who uses a stick. Several users suggest following signs from the Filisur train station to reach a good viewpoint without a long hike.

Key takeaways:
  • For the best view of the viaduct, follow the signs from the Filisur train station for the shortest path.

Hi Bingobrian and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Which picture of the viaduct are you referring to?

Are you looking for a specific angle? Most pictures are either taken from the train itself or from a viewpoint accessible by a short hike from the town of Filisur.

Hi. Not from the train but a good viewing point. Hopefully not a long walk as my wife uses a stick. Thanks

Then just follow the signs from the Filisur train station. That’s the shortest path to a good spot and also the beginning of the route I mentioned if I recall correctly.

The upper path may be quite hard for your wife.

An alternative is to go via the road and along to the base of the viaduct

    Hi Bingobrian –

If you do that , you’ll be looking up at the viaduct from below. It is hard to get a good angle if you wish to photograph a train crossing it, but you can certainly appreciate the architecture. Also, if you photograph upward, the sky will dominate the lighting in your image, and it will work much better if you are able to set your camera exposure control for spot metering or possibly center-weighted average metering. Try a couple of shots before any train goes by….very quickly, I might add.
