Lauterbrunnen, Gimmelwald, Mürren, and Schilthorn in one Day?
Arunava and two friends are planning a day trip in mid July from Frutigen to Lauterbrunnen, Gimmelwald, Mürren, and Schilthorn. They want to know if their itinerary is doable in one day and how to order their visits. They are also confused about the cable car prices with the Swiss Travel Pass and seek clarity on ticket costs.
- Plan to visit Schilthorn early in the day for better visibility.
- Use the Swiss timetable to gauge travel times for your itinerary.
- The return fare for the Mürren-Schilthorn trip with the Swiss Travel Pass is CHF 42.80, not double the one-way fare.
- Check the Jungfrau region guide for more information about your destinations.

Hello there!
We (3 of us) will be based out of Frutigen mid July, and one day is planned for Lauterbrunnen, Gimmelwald, Mürren, and Schilthorn. We’ll probably have a Swiss Pass with us, and I understand from https://www.sbb.ch/en/tickets-offers/travelcards/area-validity-map.html that with the Swiss Pass, we can get a 50% discount on the cable car ride from Mürren to Schilthorn and back (CHF 26 one way, so we spend CHF 26 to and back, as per SBB mobile app). However, looking at this: https://www.swissrailways.com/en/buy-muerren-to-schilthorn-ticket?affiliateID=23¤cy=CHF and this: https://schilthorn.ch/de/Tickets, it seems closer to CHF 43. Am a little confused.
The main question: how doable is the itinerary if we want to cover all of these places in one day, starting and ending in Frutigen (we can start very early and end very late, not a problem). We want to include the Staubbach Falls, the Blumental Panorama Trail at Mürren, the Thrill Walk at Birg station and also leave enough time to explore Gimmelwald.
In what order should we visit? Would be very grateful for some suggestions.
Thanks,
Arunava
