    Hello,
I am planning a trip to Wengen and Lucerne.
I have 9 days and nights with one of them being a travel day from Wengen to Lucerne. (how much time should i allow for this)
Trying to find what would be the best split in time for my trip.  In Wengen, I want to hike as much as possible and see the sights.
In Lucerne, I want to take the Stoos Ridge hike, have a Lake Lucerne boat ride.
Hike Mt Pilatus, Rigi and Titlis if possible.  See the city center. I believe there is a long boat ride that can be taken from Lucerne
for the Mt Pilatus hike.   I will be going during the last week of August into September of 2026. Thoughts on what the weather will be like
for hiking during this time would be appreciated as well.  Along with weather in Lucerne.
Also inquiring about hotels and what are your recommendations.  I will be a solo traveler.
Thank you for your time.   Enjoy.

    Hello Floyd

Welcome back to MySwissAlps.  (I see you posted three threads about seven years ago!)

    Splitting your time between resorts

I am a public transport/timetables expert, not a hiking expert.

However, looking at your ‘bucket list’ of hikes, I would suggest you try and split your time equally between Wengen and Lucerne.

It takes about three hours to get from Wengen to  Lucerne (called Luzern in German). You change trains at Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken Ost.

The boat from Lucerne to Alpnachstad at the bottom of the Pilatus railway takes about 70 minutes.

    Weather

What people were saying a few years ago remains in principle valid.  But you always have to bare in mind the consequences of climate change.

There is now a real possibility of severe storms in August.  (The Berner Oberland village of Brienz was damaged last year by a storm on August 12th.) There can be a heat wave in September.  (There was a brief one this year.)

Accommodation is not my expertise.  For the ‘Lucerne’ half of your trip do no just look at Lucerne city, but also consider nearby towns and villages such as Stans, Weggis, Beckenried and Brunnen.

    Kind regards

    Roger
