Costs of luggage storage at Basel train station

Short summary – read this first

Rimpy is traveling with family from Paris to Interlaken in mid-June, planning to spend a few hours in Basel during their train transfer. They need information about luggage storage at Basel station, including costs for keeping five mid-size suitcases for a few hours.

Key takeaways:
  • There is luggage storage available at Basel station; take the escalators down from the main hall for access.
  • Large lockers at the station can fit up to two suitcases, so renting two lockers will work for your luggage.
  • You should have enough time for a short city trip in Basel with 2-3 hours; make sure to check city attraction distances.
  • For Jungfrau trains, it's recommended to check if seat reservations are needed, especially in busy seasons.

    Hi Maria

Thanks for your reply. I could find cost for storage lockers only , these are not suitable for keeping bags. Can you please guide more regarding cost of storing luggage also.

    regards

    Hi Rimpy

Not sure I understand the question. The lockers are made to keep suitcases of different sizes so not sure why they wouldn’t be suitable (?)

You have dimensions of the lockers as well on the link so you can compare against the sizes of your suitcases.

    Hi Maria

I was thinking lockers are small but I rechecked large locker can fit 2 suitcases.we will take 2 large lockers for our luggage. How far is Basel station from city attractions, will 2-3 hours ok for short city trip.

Also advise do we need seat reservation for Jungfrau trains.

    Thanks for guidance 😊

    regards

    Rimpy

    Hi Rimpy,

Here’s a suggestion to see Basel: http://www.myswissalps.com/hi king/basel. You can of course shorten the route as you please.
