Luggage transfer to Zurich Airport and storage for up to 7 days

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is looking for advice on sending their luggage ahead to Zurich airport for their outbound flight. They want to send their bags a week before the flight since they will only be carrying small suitcases during their last week of travel. They're unsure if it's possible to send luggage that far in advance or if luggage storage at a train station could work.

Key takeaways:
  • You can send your luggage with SBB luggage transfer and it allows free storage for up to five days after arrival.
  • If you send luggage in advance, specify your storage request when registering for the service.
  • Be aware that every day beyond the first five days will incur a CHF5 fee.

    Hi,

I’m looking to see best options for sending luggage ahead to Zurich airport for out bound flight. The issue is that we’d like to send it a week ahead of flight date, the reason being we’ll be traveling the last week and only want to take one small suitcase each. I’m not finding anything on being able to send it ahead more than a day before the flight, is it possible to send a week early to Zurich airport? I guess the other option might be to send it ahead to a train station we will be at a day before our flight, but I don’t see that they would store it for use for 5-6 days. If they would then we could get it the day before flight and send it onto airport.

    Thanks.

    HI Mfrank,

The SBB luggage transfer includes free storage on the day of arrival and the following four days. Every subsequent day will cost CHF5. So it’s possible to send your luggage in advance and pick it up much later. You will need to specify this when you register for the service at the point of sale.
