Hello, How do we plan the trip to Mt. Pilatus from Lucerne by ourselves without booking a tour? Is it possible to do this tour by ourselves and not book a tour so we can spend the most time at the top?  How much would it cost us without any travel passes?  Would you recommend travel passes for travel for 2 days in Lucerne, 4 days in Lauterbrunnen, 4 days in Lugano and 2 days in Basel.  Thanks

Definitely it’s worth investing in a rail pass if you are here in Switzerland for more than 3 days and envisage using the public transport a lot, whether across Switzerland or within a region.  More on “how to choose a rail pass” in the attached link:
