My Swiss trip – shall I bring my house shoes?
A traveler is preparing for their upcoming trip to Switzerland and is unsure whether to bring house shoes for indoor use after hiking. They are concerned about being rude by wearing outdoor shoes in their accommodations. This discussion highlights the cultural practice of wearing house shoes in Switzerland, which is welcomed by others in the thread.
- Bringing lightweight house shoes for indoor use is a common practice in Switzerland and is recommended for comfort after hiking.
- It's advisable to switch out of muddy or wet boots at the entrance or in designated areas of your accommodation to keep rooms clean.
- Many hotels provide mats or trays for wet shoes, making it easy to manage outdoor footwear.

As I pack my bags for my trip to Switzerland I can’t help but think I should bring a pair of house shoes. I am the type of person who does not wear my shoes/hiking shoes in my house & I can’t help but feel I would be rude if I did not follow this rule while traveling, especially after a long days hike. Am I over thinking this?
Thank you…
