    Hello!

I am traveling from Paris –> Basel –> Interlaken in May 2023 and I plan on purchasing the Swiss Travel Pass. I just found out (on this forum!) that Basel to Interlaken is free so I will just buy a ticket from Paris to Basel.

Question about getting from Basel to Interlaken: Do I simply show my Swiss Travel Pass when I arrive at Basel station and hop on the next available train to Interlaken? Or do I somehow need to reserve a spot ahead of time for Basel to Interlaken?

    Thank you!

Yes, that’s correct. All main line trains in Switzerland are ‘walk-on’ as long as you have a valid ticket of any type.

There are connections every 30 minutes Basel – Interlaken. If the next available train at Basel is one that needs an extra change in Spiez, you can wait (get a coffee of buy snacks perhaps) at Basel for the next direct service
