    Hello,

Before our trip to Switzerland we will be travelling from France to Italy. Google maps suggests we drive through along the border of Switzerland, mont blanc tunnel and down to Genoa.

This will be at the end of March. Is this risky due to weather. Would anyone suggest a better route?

    Thanks, Dave

    Hi Dave,

Not sure where you are driving from in France. But if you’re driving through Mont Blanc, that will definitely involve driving on the mountains. In March there might be snow on the road.

Here is our handy guide about driving in the mountains: https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/car/driving-mountains/

Hope it helps in some ways.

    Regards,

    Anna

    Hello,

Thank you for the quick response!

We will be driving from Saint Malo, north west. So we could come through at any recommended winter route!

    Thanks

    Hi Dave,

The Mont Blanc tunnel is open all year round.  Generally if you’re travelling on the main route, there should be no problem as the roads are kept clear. Lots of people travel to the ski resort in winter. For road trips in the mountains during winter, probably best to have snow chains with you and install winter tyres on your vehicle. Also, please check the road conditions on the official website before you travel. Safe journey!
