Platform Changes at Zurich Train Station

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is seeking advice on transferring between platforms at Zurich Hauptbahnhof, specifically from Platform 33 to Platform 18 with only 7 minutes to spare. They want to know if it's challenging with luggage and if there's a station diagram available.

Key takeaways:
  • Use the PDF map available online to familiarize yourself with Zurich HB's layout before your trip.
  • With good signage and mechanical stairs, transferring between platforms is manageable within the 7-minute window.
  • Consider taking an earlier train to allow extra time for connections, especially if you're unfamiliar with the station.

<<“I believe you are referring to the “MischtCHraZZerli”, with a really rough CH (typically Swiss) and a sharp Z at the end…”>>

    Genau.

Es tut mir leid für meinen Fehler. Ich bitte um Vergebung.

It was not in my preferred reference source, so I had to do it from my not-so-good memory.

Actually, any attempt at all at one of the dialects usually gets a positive response, in my experience.

The “ischtchr” part is tough. Unsurpassable, I’d say, not to mention unpronouncable unless you are Swiss. The Aussies took the easy way out with “chook.”
